Our beloved librarian, Queen Frosteen

Once a year, every class gets to lead a morning assembly for the school. On our scheduled day, we decided to dedicate our program to K.G, librarian without peer. We had contrasting pictures we'd taken of her that showed her mild-mannered librarian side and her Book Fair personna, Queen Frosteen. (We let her keep the pictures because what woman doesn't want large pictures of her face?) After telling everyone the title and author of our favorite books, we launched into our performance of our song and dance:
"R-E-A-D"
(sung to the tune of "Y-M-C-A")

Here at, here at G----
(What a school!)
We say reading,
Reading is Super Cool!
And we love it,
Found how fun it could be
When we go to the library.
To find, find a book
Just for you,
This will be more
Fun than you ever knew!
We'll be reading,
Never putting it down
It's the hottest spot in our town.
(Bum-bum-bum-bum-bum)
We grab our books and we
R-E-A-D
It's so much fun here when we
R-E-A-D
Ms. G is so neat
She just can't be beat
There's an author out there for you.
(Bum-bum-bum-bum-bum)
We grab our books and we
R-E-A-D
Its' so much fun here when we
R-E-A-D
We love our Ms. G----
Want to give her a smooch
(Smacking sound; blow a kiss to her)
There's an author out there for you:
READ!!!

The crowd went wild. The parents had more video cameras than channel 8. We are immortalized forever on tape. And Ms. G is assured that Thursday at 8:30 a.m. is our absolute favorite time of the week. Every week. It's Library Time! Thanks, Ms. G!

Oh, I'm sorry I missed that. Great article, R ... even if the photo has a little too much Longhorn bias for this aTm dad.
