Meet the Teacher!

Well, after working approximately 3, 455 hours on our new second grade classroom, I am proud to announce that it is ready to open for business on Monday.

We are now on the second grade ramp with our garden behind us and the butterfly garden in front of us. If that was not enough, look how big our new room is!!!

Welcome! Come in and follow the numbers:
  1. Leave your backpack on the porch.
  2. Put up your lunchbox.
  3. Put up your signed agenda (with homework and reading minutes recorded.)
  4. Get your morning work.
  5. Enjoy our brand new room!
Our room has separate boy and girl bathrooms, and a sink.

This will be our writing and word work center.
This is part of our library. (Beginning chapter books still being put out every day!)
Computer station and (TA DA!) a desk for the teacher! (For the last four years in my portable there was not room for a teacher's desk. )

Now that you are acquainted with our new room, let's meet your classmates and their families. (We all looped up from first grade together, so you already know all the other students in your room!)
Here is J with his mom and sister (who will begin kindergarten on our campus this year!)
Here is J and his mom. This is the third year I've had a member of the F family in my classroom!
B brought by her mom and little brother (who is in first grade this year.) Her dad was flying home from Ethiopia that day!
Here is R with her mother. Her little sister really wants to be in school, but has one more year of preschool. (But guess what? Her preschool teacher is a former student teacher from our school. Small world.)
C brought in almost his entire family. (Only his little brother is missing.) His big sister attends our school as well.
E came in with her mom ready for a great year.
E came with his mother, little sister (and her new backpack) and grandmother who was visiting from Florida.
L brought in his family, including little brother S who is now a first grader.
E came with his mom and little sister who is now a big kindergartner. (Many thanks to his mom for her hard work in our gardens!)
A came by with her mom, and returned later for  a second look!
EK has a new haircut, and a smile that includes new teeth.
E brought her mother by, wearing last year's Bumblebee t-shirt. Once a 'Bee, always a 'Bee.
I and his mom came by to tour the new room.

Several of our friends were unable to come on Friday due to various reasons (my favorite was G's trip to New York for her birthday!) Since I was your teacher last year, I guess you weren't really "meeting" me on this day.

I am so excited about our new room, new grade and new year. See you at 7:40 am on Monday morning. Can't wait!
