Let the celebration begin...with three new lost teeth! Congratulations on your bravery in pulling the tooth, and in your newly found wealth with Tooth Fairy money.
Today, we studied about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We were out of school yesterday to celebrate his life and the impact it had on our world.
This is what we read in class today. See if your child can read it to you:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader. He helped to change our country. He was born on January 15, 1929. He grew up in Atlanta, George. When Martin was a boy, there were unfair laws. The laws kept black people and white people apart. Martin knew this was wrong. Martin grew up. He became a pastor in a church. He said people of al colors should be allowed to go to the same schools and parks. Martin married Coretta Scott. They had four children. Martin wanted his children to be treated fairly. But there were still bad laws that kept people apart. Martin worked hard to change the laws. he led march after march. He gave many speeches. He once said, "I have a dream." Martin dreams all people would be treated the same. Soon, the unfair laws were changed! Today, people of all colors can be together. That's why we remember Dr. King's life and work. What can you do to remember Dr. King?
Wow! We had some good discussions about Dr. King and his work today. We also talked about his dream. Did it come true? Well, we all decided it must have because for the first time we have a black man as president!
We talked about our dreams. Stay tuned tomorrow to read about the dreams we wrote down!
(PS: Parents: I used the spa gift certificate yesterday. It was wonderful. Thank you again SO much!!! Perhaps you noticed how much more relaxed I seemed today. ;) )
