L came in with a lost tooth today! The Tooth Fairy brought him a dollar, and he made plans for a trip to Target with the reward from lost tooth number 7! January has been the month with the most lost teeth yet!

Computer Day! This is our first time to do it solo since former computer teacher Mrs. J moved to Houston. (She will be back next fall.)

We got to go to second grade links for Free Choice!

Ask your child what she/he worked on during computer time today.

You would be amazed at how well these students can navigate the approved educational sites. Way to go, Bumblebees.

On the second grade ramp to return to the classroom for...

...
Lockdown Drill. We take this very seriously and were very diligent during our practice of this very important drill.

Mrs. R came for garden time today. Instead of gardening, this week's group helped paint a background for the new cage.

A masterpiece! (Thanks Mrs. R for braving the cold to come help with this.)
We are beginning a unit on Fractions. We are emphasizing that all of the parts in a fraction must be equal. (We read a funny story about a brother and sister who did not want to share equally!) We are focusing on halves, thirds and fourths.
Half Day is Friday. I will send home information tomorrow. Your child is thinking about how to dress in halves (!) and what half object to bring on Friday.
Note: if you do not have internet access for math homework, you may be creative in how your child does addition/subtraction drills. You might invest in good old fashioned flash cards for practice.
