One Half+ A Whole Lot of Fun

We finished our stories on dogs and illustrated portions of them today. We will make a class book with everyone's stories in it. We will make longer individual versions.
We worked with the fraction 1/2 today. It can look a lot of different ways.
We had to decide if these figures could be divided evenly to make 1/2. We discovered that an odd number of squares cannot be divided evenly.
We labeled our figures that showed 1/2. Some were 24/48. 1/2 can have many different names!
Today we discovered 6/12, 3/6, 18/36 and 4/8.
We did not color and label it if we could not find 1/2.
We found some really big examples of 1/2 like 24/48!
By George, I think they have it!
Afterwords, we watched a Brainpop Jr. video on fractions. We also tweeted today. You can check it out on twitter.com at obumblebees.

Welcome back blog. We have missed you.
