Warm Starbucks Drinks Would Help...

This greeted us when we came in this morning! There is one bloom on the amaryllis, and it looks like it could have four more blooms. This surprised us because today was the coldest day we've had in a year.
We finished illustrating the paper about "Our Hero". We took turns reading each other's pieces. Here is a list of who we chose as heroes:
President Obama (IP)
Lance Armstrong (CD)
Nicola Klein (RK)
Dr. Briano (EM)
George Lucas (EJ)
Marcy Shapiro (OC)
Sarah Boudour (EKM)
Angus Young (AG)
Diane Kisler (BK)
Dr. Seuss (SS)
Rey Mysterio (ER)
Albert Einstein (IP)
Abraham Lincoln (GR)
John Anderson (JA)
Weird Al Yankovic (CB)
Jorma Auburn (LA)
Jackson Masters (JM)
Yvonne Herrera (EH)
Baby, it's cold outside! We went to recess, but the teacher froze into a solid block of ice after 15 minutes. We continued recess with free read, free draw, free write in the classroom. A good time was had by all. Especially the teacher. :)

We are working on fractions in math. Look for fractions in everyday situations.

We are writing our fiction stories about dogs using our Story Boards.

We read a fiction book about tornadoes (a Magic Treehouse book called "Twisters on Tuesday") and then a non-fiction book about tornadoes. We compared the similarities and the differences between the two books.
Spanish! Mrs. AL is teaching us names of occupations. She put the words in Spanish and reminded us of their English meanings.
She had us match pictures to the occupations in ten seconds or less. See if your child can match these occupations with their translations:
Spanish: carpintero, peluquero, astronauta, piloto, plumero
English: carpenter, barber, astronaut, pilot, plumber

NOTE: The math homework should be chosen to help with addition and subtraction drills! We are doing this homework to increase our speed.
