(Erik's sister, Eliza, was here, too, but I couldn't get the the camera quickly enough.)
Ian had a fascinating show and tell of an animal bone and a human bone.
Olivia celebrated her seventh birthday today! Happy Birthday, Olivia!
Bella had a special box her mother gave her when her cat died. It is a little girl holding a cat and it has paw prints on the side. Bella fills it with shells.
Today was our last Spanish class, our last music class and our last Reading Celebration. (NEWS FLASH: We read for 14,756 minutes or 256 hours or 10 DAYS total this month!!! No wonder our DRA grades skyrocketed this year. Way to read, Bumblebees!)
Eliana's sister, Hannah, joined us for lunch. We did not get to go out to the playground at our usual time because the third grade was having playtime with the principal today. (That was OK with us: we heard the temperature was near 100 degrees.) We had "free read, free write and free draw" time instead.
Olivia's brother, Camden, joined us, too. These little guys just fit right in. Can't wait to have them in my room some day.
During this free time, several people decorated the front of the portable for our Pizza Party, which was at 2:00 pm.
We got pizza and drinks for winning the BookSpring Read-a-thon. We raised more money than any other room in the school. This money will go to give books to children who would not have books in their home.
Bella's dad was coming to the pizza party when he saw something on the sidewalk. It was a baby owl! He put in a box so we could see it. He will take it to animal rescue later.
Ms. Gooch dropped by to congratulate us on our win.....
...and while she was there, someone told her it was Olivia's birthday. You know what that means! A special rendition of "Happy Birthday" in an operatic voice that can be heard blocks away. Since the owl was resting in the room, our librarian promised to dial it back a little.
Wow! So many fun things in one day! But wait: there's more: NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY! We will only have school on Tuesday and Wednesday next week and then...we...will...be...SECOND GRADERS!!!
