I'm at School in Another Teacher's Room!

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving Holidays! (Only 13 more school days until the Christmas Holidays. But who is counting?)

Our principal, Ms. R, encourages the teachers at our school to visit other teachers' rooms and glean from their teaching, routines and great ideas. Today, I visited two other second grade teachers' classrooms. Ms. L and Ms. S "team teach". Ms. L teaches Language Arts and Ms. S handles Math/Social Studies/Science.
Ms. S gave me lots of new and creative ideas for morning calendar time and math routines.
Ms. L kept the students engaged with her reading and thoughtful questions.

WISH LIST AHEAD:
I loved the temperature gauge they used. We could certainly use one of these for our classroom as we enter our unit on weather.
This is an Exacto School Pro Pencil Sharpener Model 167x. In all my years of teaching, I've never experienced an electric pencil sharpener that worked as well as this one. We'd love to have one for our room!
Guess what's happening outside of the Library? Book Fair materials have arrived from Scholastic! The Book Fair is next week.
Have you noticed the new bulletin boards near the animal cages in the main hall?
What can you add to this board?
Thanks to Ms. L and Ms. S for letting me lurk in their rooms today. I got a zillion new ideas.

You might notice at the right of this blog we now have a classroom Twitter account! I will be teaching the students to tweet, so they can let you know in their own words what we are doing throughout the day in our classroom.

We are also going to try and do some math homework on an online site called Sumdog. Look for instructions soon!
