Pocket Day #6=60 Days of School Already!

A came in first thing this morning missing something. Can you guess what? A tooth!
Today was Pocket Day: Day 60. That means this was our sixth Pocket Day! Here, we have collected the data to add the total of pockets in our classroom.
We are hard at work at strategies to add up these 18 amounts of pockets.
Tallies, ten-frames, grouping to find ten (and even good old-fashioned fingers) will all help us find the correct amount.
Many of our students have learned to plan ahead and wear extra pockets on Pocket Day!
E was Pocket Queen with 9 pockets; "I" was Pocket King with 38 pockets!
Class total of pockets: 137.
Best estimator of pockets: EJ
Correct answer of total pockets: JM and IP
Last time we had 90 pockets; this time we had 137. Whoever can write in the agenda the correct difference between 90 and 137 will get a surprise in the morning.
Wednesday is Spanish Day! We sang some exciting songs with Ms. AL.
During Spanish, Mrs. O looked outside and what do you think she saw? E's grandfather and mother were out in the garden mounting the bumblebee birdhouse that J's grandmother gave us.
Mr. D came all the way from Charlevoix, Michigan to help us in the garden. (And maybe to visit family and grandchildren, too.)
Please come by and see our garden plot. It won't be hard to find, now!

Don't forget: Thanksgiving luncheon tomorrow. You are all welcome to come to the room at 10:30 am and see a short presentation by our class tomorrow. You may eat in the cafeteria or at any of the many picnic tables around campus.

Moms: We have finished the writing portion of your biographies. The students have done an amazing job! We need to make covers, table of contents, dedications and illustrations and then we will send them home. (Hopefully before Thanksgiving.) You will be AMAZED!
