Thanksgiving Celebration

Our bloggy celebration began yesterday after school. The Brownies were making Thanksgiving crafts outside.
Maybe these will be centerpieces for Thanksgiving feasts.
Lots of hard work going on here.
The finished product!
Today we used our new classroom technology to watch the link from this blog that showed us performing at the BookSpring Read-a-thon kick off.
Parents and relatives began arriving, and at 10:30 we put on a short play based on the book "The Night Before Thanksgiving" by Dav Pilkey. We also sang two of our favorite Thanksgiving songs, "A Fat Little Turkey" and "You're My Turkey, Albuquerque".

We showed our parents and relatives our Writing Portfolios before lunch.

And then, the time that we were all waiting for came:
Thanksgiving Dinner at School!
Here, we lined up to walk to the cafeteria together:

Many thanks to our principal, Ms. R, for this wonderful tradition at our school. Here, she takes her turn serving lunches to the school.

When we went back to the classroom and had a little "free read, free write, free draw" time to help us settle down. (When one of the Moms was leaving, she looked around at the energy filled classroom, patted me on the shoulder and said, "Good luck", and then ran out the door.)(Kidding: she walked very quickly.)

Thanks for coming today, parents and relatives. Our room was bursting with all the support you give us each day even when you are not present! You send me well prepared students each day. I am thankful for each one of you.
