We colored our Flat Stanleys today.

Here are the finished editions. In the agenda tonight is a form to send me your child's complete address, the address of the person you will be sending Stanley to visit and a plea for 2 stamps (or $1.00 and I will buy the stamps!)

Queen of Show and Tell R had a silk kimono from Japan. Her father got it for her when he was there on business.

King of Show and Tell J had a Texas flag that was flown over the state capitol building. It was given to him by his grandparents on his first birthday.

Look at the butterfly garden! It is getting beautiful as spring begins to cover our part of the state.

We have been studying life cycles of plans and animals. Today we labeled the parts of a plant.

Usually, we grow seeds in a cup and take them home. Today, we took those seeds we planted before Spring Break and dug them up!

We were able to see beans that were barely sprouted and large plants.

We compared primary roots and secondary roots.

We looked for primary stems and secondary stems. We even located where the blossom would grow that would produce the new bean.

Late breaking news: IP lost a tooth last night! That makes 6 teeth in March.

POCKET DAY! Today was the 130th day of school, and our 13th pocket day. We have 4 more Pocket Days to go! Today we assembled our data, added up the number of pockets (69), discussed why the number was smaller this time (warmer weather means less people are wearing coats) and came up with strategies for adding 17 different numbers. We have found that brackets and careful adding work best. The Pocket Queen was EM and the Pocket King was IP
We graphed the number of pockets everyone had today, too!

Garden Day! Not bragging, but our classroom plot looks the best of all! Thanks, Mrs. R, for your faithful care of the garden.
I am sorry I forgot to put boxes for Math Drills on the agenda this week. YES: we are still doing nightly math drills. And YES: 44 more days of school. How can that be? Pass the Kleenex...
