We came in and wrote stories about Spring Break in our journals.
J went on a cruise over the break and lost his front tooth as he was going on board! Does life get any more exciting than that?
This morning we also began our letter writing unit. We wrote a friendly letter to thank S's mom for the great treats she gave us before the break. We began discussing persuasive letters. We made a list of who we could write them to and what issues we would like to discuss.
There was also a very interesting time in Social Studies. We are supposed to make a list of important women in history. Most students could only think of one or two. We will continue to add to this list over the next week. You might mention some important women in history (herstory?) to your child.
Recess! The playground is filled with caterpillars. We did a lot of exploring and digging for more.
A typical hallway stop for bathroom and water as we return from outside. Look at your amazing kids politely waiting their turns.
We are now reading "Ready Freddy, the King of Show-and-Tell" by Abby Klein. The children are making a list of rules that will tell how to be a good presenter and how to be a good listener. We will begin assigned show-and-tell days next week. Look for the information in your child's agenda.
Can you say "hanging on by a thread"? O's strategy is to ease it out so there will not be blood when it finally just falls out. When this tooth is put under the pillow, we will have lost a total of 23 teeth in our room this year.
We are finishing up our unit on adding and subtracting with regrouping. Next up: time and temperature.
A few items that just popped up in my emails that won't be on the agenda or weekly classroom newsletter:
- We have an assembly tomorrow afternoon to learn about the orchestra. (1:30-2:15)
- We have an assembly Friday afternoon to dedicate the greenhouse. (1:30-2:15)
- We have an assembly Monday at 8:45 am for "Going Buggy". (We are the stars!) We will perform it for the parents on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. (Your child is to be here at 6:00pm to get dressed for it. I was told a letter went home on this, but I did not see it. Did you?)
It is the season of assemblies and wrapping up loose ends because we now have..................................................50 days left of school! How did that happen so quickly?
Welcome back, Bumblebees! Let's run the race to win all the way to the end.
