Beginning a New Week

Today we made ladybugs that helped us learn that a silent e at the end of a word can make the vowel become long. (Example: fin becomes fine; not becomes note, slid become slide.)
The new chapter book section of our library is now done! If you have any gently used first grade friendly chapter books you'd like to donate, we'd love to have them!
We are almost done with our handwriting books! Only a few pages to go...look for them to come home in next week's blue folder.
We used Scrabble tiles to add up the total of our spelling words. No spelling Superstars this week, but I know we will have a lot of 100s on the test Friday!
Oh! Who is this? Mrs. O'Brien met up with some college friends near Crawford this weekend. Guess it is a week for presidents. :)

GUESS WHAT? Not only did our school win the Read-a-thon for the entire district (100 schools!), but our class won for our school! Later this year we will be treated to a pizza party and a box full of books for our class.

Our Superintendent is coming for the presentation of the trophy, and we have been asked to perform our song/poem at the assembly again!!! I will let you know when the date is scheduled.

Library will be on Thursday this week because the library will be used for a workshop on Wednesday.
