Field Trip #2: The Science and Nature Center

Note to teacher: Good thing you had tennis shoes in the classroom because there was a LOT of outside walking involved in our field trip today. Those black wedge heels would NOT have cut it...
A great bus ride began an exciting field trip.
Lining up to meet our guest teachers.
The boys went with Jeff first to learn the nuances of bugs.
They were amazed and impressed!
The girls went with Mary to learn insect identification.
Careful observation was required for this task.
Did you identify your insect?
(We then switched classes so everyone had the opportunity to touch a hissing cockroach.)
The boys performed a power pose while waiting for the girls to finish.
On to field work: we caught insects with nets.
We collected and then identified them.
Next, we took small nets to the water and tried to catch minnows and other small insects.
Thanks to LA's grandparents for coming all the way from Virginia to visit us. (And maybe their other family members.)

Please look in the agenda tonight. There is a registration packet and information on kindergarten round-up. Also look for a very important letter from the teacher...let me know what you think, Bumblebee Parents. :)

April Reading Celebration is tomorrow. 23 more days of school. Life is good.
