Friday is a Fun Day!

We are still practicing our self-editing and peer-editing skills.

We had a check list looking for these criteria in a paragraph we wrote about a friend:
  • I wrote at least 4 sentences.
  • I wrote details that tell about a friend.
  • I used capital letters in the right places.
  • I used punctuation in the right places.
  • I spelled word wall words correctly.
  • I revised at least one time.
  • I wrote neatly.
  • I edited by myself then I edited with a friend.
(Bet you can't wait to read these stories!)
First Birthday Book! C received his at today's first...
...ASSEMBLY! (K-2 assemblies: we are the "big guys" this year.)
Kindergarten presented a very interesting program on shapes.
Here we are singing the school song:
"G is a place like no other place.
We come each day with a smiling face.
Each kid is so special at our school
And that's why we practice the Golden Rule.
Each one is special at G
Our friends and teachers we won't forget
at G!"
Great spelling homework ideas: C wrote his words on shrinky dink plastic, and then baked it to shrink it!
O wrote hers on foam shapes.
E typed his words into a program that swirled the words!
E did her words in English AND Spanish!
R put her words on a Scrabble board and then photographed them. (She said they had the pictures printed on Wednesday so they would be ready in time.)

L wrote his words several times; the last time was on a big, heavy rock!

Hope you have a great weekend. Next week we will take school pictures and begin parent conferences. Make sure you have signed up for yours!
