C is our Superstar Student of the week. He brought and presented this awesome board. Come by and look it over if you have a chance this week.

E was today's Helper. The Helper's jobs continue to increase as we become more familiar with our routine. The helper now leads the class through morning calendar facts. The class responds with enthusiasm each morning. (I think they are glad to hear another voice besides Mrs. O's!)

We worked on "fancying up" our personal narratives this morning. We are looking for interesting details we can add to our pieces during our editing process. One trick we have learned is to find the nouns (persons, places and things) and see if there are any words that describe them better (adjectives). We are seeing some exciting writing!

Today was our third Pocket Day: Day 30 of school. First, we made a prediction of how many pockets were in the room. Here we are collecting data to find out how many pockets each person in the classroom has. Then, we added up our data to see how many total pockets there were in the room.

L and J had the most pockets in the room today. (6 each!)

We totaled our pockets, and then checked the total with cubes. We had 4 towers of ten and 9 single cubes. That makes 49...so we had 49 pockets for today's Pocket Day Count.

B, E, an J got the total number correct. C got the closest prediction AND the total number correct.

Too "Bad" this Michael Jackson impersonator didn't enter the contest: he'd have had the most pockets for sure.
