The teacher had to leave a little early yesterday with a migraine that lodged behind her right eye. Another teacher took over for the last 30 minutes. Her report was that "the class was made up of little angels". Way to go in a crunch, Bumblebees!

In Science, we have begun a unit on "Balance and Motion". Here we are trying to find the balance point on a cardboard crayfish.

The next challenge was to find another balance point on the lighter part of the cardboard cutout.

We soon realized some weight would be necessary.

We added counterbalances (in the form of clothespins) to find new balance points.

It had to balance on one finger.

We had some very creative solutions.

Science takes a lot of experimenting!

In Computer, Mrs. J had us design and print cards for the Veterans who will be at our Veterans' Day Assembly in a few weeks. We thanked them for our freedom.

C brought in some of his own balance-in-motion toys from home.

This spins and finds its own balance point.

We carefully recorded what we learned in our Science notebooks using our new vocabulary words for "Balance and Motion".

Tuesday is Garden Day! Today Mrs. R worked with one group...

...and Mrs. K worked with another! (All parents are welcome to volunteer.)
I have finished all the conferences and enjoyed visiting with each on of you. I know that it is our partnering together that makes this school year so successful!
NOTE: We are having a "Carpet Party" on Friday right after school. If you can come and help us straighten out the carpet so we are not forever tripping on the wrinkles, I would really appreciate it.
