How To...

Another lost tooth! Congratulations, Joseph, on another lost tooth.
Emma's show and tell was a Harry Potter wand that her mother got her.
Joseph's show and tell was a badger he got on his vacation in Oklahoma.
Liam made a book over Spring Break. He was the author and his cousin was the illustrator. (What a great idea! Working with someone else on your book.) Here is his story:

"Santa is Missing" by Liam /illustrated by Cleo
The elves did not know what toys to make. With Santa gone, they did not know what to do.At the North Pole, everything was wrong. Santa was missing. The elves did not know what to do. One hour later, Ms. Claus said she would be in charge. Everybody got back on track. But who would deliver the presents? Ten of the elves would. When everything was finished, they hopped on the sleigh. While the presents were being loaded, they put on their gear and took off into the sky. They flew all over the world and came back home and they lived happily ever after.
Erik brought his Uncle Bernie's air force coin. Uncle Bernie gave it to Erik for his birthday!
Thomas brought in a Lego structure.
Romi brought in her summer journal and read us a selection and showed us an illustration.
On to our "How to..." lesson! Everyone wrote in their journals the steps for "How to make a peanut butter sandwich."
One by one, we read our entries. Mrs. O'Brien followed the directions exactly. There were a few problems! This is what happens when you write "Put peanut butter on the bread." (What about opening the jar? Or using a knife?)
We wrote "How to Make a Peanut Butter Sandwich PART 2" and then read them to see if we included all the steps.
Next we made a book on "How to make a pizza".
Everyone did a great job!
We tried to make our work look more like the work of a second grader...because that is what we will be in nine short weeks!
