Units of Measurement

We continued our math unit on comparing and ordering. We know that we can measure by length, area, capacity, weight and temperature.

Today we had different math centers:

1. We estimated what we weighed, and then Miss Haley weighed us on a scale to see how close our estimations were.

2. We drew a shape in our math journals, and then we replicated it on the geoboards.

3. We chose objects to weigh. We predicted which would be heavier/lighter and then put them on the scales to see if we were correct.

4. We were "human scales" with our arms outstretched showing which would be heavier between two imaginary objects. (The heavier object would make the arm go down; the lighter object would make the arm go up.)

Math is so much fun!
