The day began with another lost tooth! We are not sure how Emma Kate is going to eat her Easter candy!

The General Store was in place when we arrived today. (Thanks, parents, for all the wonderful prizes!) Everyone got to "buy" a prize with their March reading minutes. Our class room total for March? (Drum roll, please........) 16,527 minutes, or 275 hours or almost 11 1/2 days of reading! Way to read, first grade Bumblebees!

All of our work was cowboy-centered today. We had a Cowboy Songbook. We sang many cowboy songs together like: Campfire Song, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Old Susannah, Horses, Texas, our Texas, I'm a Texan, She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain and Home on the Range.

We had a cowboy word search. (What a great way to form vocabulary words!)

We wrote in a special cowboy journal.

Our title was, "If I was a cowboy/cowgirl....."

We had "corral counting" and "pony picnic" worksheets to help us with our counting and initial letter practice. We read a book called "Dude Ranch Dudes" with a partner.

We sang cowboy songs outside.

We wrote about being a "cowpoke" and drew ourselves as a cowboy/cowgirl. We decorated our boots. We had cowboy math.
WOW! What a rootin' tootin' great day in the first grade. Yee Haw!
And tomorrow? April Fool's Day Fun.
We can't wait.
