Odds and Ends

We are finishing up several of our units this week. This is the last week of the grading period! We will get our report cards when we return from Spring Break, and then we only have about 9 weeks of school left! If this year was a pizza cut into 4 pieces, we have already eaten 3 of the pieces!

We had a trace and draw center today on real architectural tracing paper. We wrote the description in the box in the bottom corner--just like a real designer!
We finished our unit on measurement today. We completed a booklet where we had to tell how long several different objects were.
We added another report to our book on Texas: we wrote about Texas' state flower, the bluebonnet. This year, we are supposed to have a bumper crop of bluebonnets because of all the rain!
This center had to sing a song about bluebonnets. We learned it after we read "The Legend of the Bluebonnet" by Tomie DePaola. Then, we illustrated the poem for our portfolio.

"Bluebonnets, bluebonnets,
with your coats so blue.
Your white eyes are smiling,
through the silvery dew.
I know you're a dolly
offered for the rain.
I know you'll return again
to Texas in the spring!"
Look what I found written on our magnet wall! Made my day.
And guess what is almost here? SPRING! It officially starts on March 20. Someone needs to tell the trees: the neighborhood around our school is busting out with blooms.

Remember:
  • Library books due tomorrow by 7:45 am
  • Book orders due in class/online by tomorrow
  • Tickets for snacks on sale before/after school for 50 cents each. (Please limit your child to $2.00 worth!) We will have our Field Day on Thursday and our snacks on Friday!
  • Did you know that we "spring ahead" with Daylight Savings time on Saturday?
