How many words can you make out of the letters in "Lone Star State"? (We are called the "Lone Star State" because there is only only star on our flag.)
The Old Lady swallowed Texas words like cities (Austin, Houston, Dallas, Corpus Christi) and symbols (bluebonnet, longhorn cattle).
We scrambled up the Texas Pledge to see if we could un-scramble it. (Do you know the Texas Pledge? "Honor the Texas flag, I pledge allegiance, to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible." See if your child can recite it.)
If you click on the picture, you should be able to see this song. It is "The Rodeo Song" (to the tune of "This Old Man.)
More songs: "Texas Our Texas" (the state song) and "Spring Song", and "March Song.
Picture yourself as a cowboy/cowgirl.
A song about our state flower, the bluebonnet.
We love to sing and clap this song!
State Symbols. (We will be tested over these!)

March 2: Happy Birthday, Texas!
In math, we are learning how to estimate the length of something. And estimate is a "good guess". Then we measure the item to see if we were close in our estimate. Today, we used cubes as our standard of measurement.
This group decided to measure the length of their table.
This is a VERY long measurement!
Engineers at work!
