Show and Tell

Erik brought in a Bakugan Battle Warrior. (If you are like me, you had to Google this item to know how to spell it and what it was. You can look at a link here.) Erik demonstrated how it has a magnetic force and sticks to white boards and chairs.
Liam brought in a just-published book called "The Lost Children" by his aunt, Carolyn Cohagan. His grandfather read him the first chapter, and he told us what it was about. He also showed us his aunt's picture on the back cover flap. He said it is a "just right" book for children ages 8-12. Great report, Liam!
Emma Kate showed us her diary. Sometimes diaries are for writing in; sometimes they are for drawing in. Elliot told us that his mother keeps a journal. Mrs. O'Brien told us that she has been keeping journals for 25 years and now has about 10 notebooks filled!
Bella brought in her critique of last night's "American Idol" program. (Just the girls were performing.) Here is what she wrote:
"My favorite American Idol singer is Didi Benami. My in-between favorite American Idol is Crystal. I do not have a least favorite because I like all of them."
Great review, Bella. We'll be waiting to hear what you have to say about the boys' performances tonight.
Thomas made a real flashlight at his brother's Cub Scout meeting last night. Here he is shining it for the camera....
...and here is what it really looks like! We learned that all flashlights do not have to look the same. Thomas' model was a piece of cardboard with wires and batteries attached. Very informative, Thomas!

Romi also told us that she went to BookPeople last night and got to meet Mary Pope Osborne, the author of the "Magic Treehouse" Books.

Tomorrow is..........SPORTS DAY! You know the drill:
  • Wear running shoes. I have the yellow class t-shirts in the room.
  • Our Famous Relay Race is from 11:45-12:15 pm. If you attend and want to take your child home at that time, you may sign out with me.
  • Buy concession tickets before and after school before we have our Sports Day snack time on Friday. (Please limit your tickets to $2 or 4 tickets. We will only be having a short snack time and that should be MORE than enough!) Again, if you want to sign your child out early, you may do that with me.
Book Bags are due back by Friday.
Keep up with Reading Minutes over Spring Break!
