Any Day that Ends With a Trip to the Library Has to be a Great Day!

When we come in most mornings, we begin our Daily Five right away (Read to self, read to someone else, listen to someone read, work on writing and word wall work.) C and E were totally engrossed in their books.
Oh, look! I's great dog Owen has come to visit our room again this year!
Mrs. O's son, C, stopped by the room this morning on his way to a cross country bike ride to California. (Enjoying the freedom of graduation before student loans come due...)
Another family picture: L with his mom.
Today we played a match game with numbers and cards.
Half the room did this, and the other half...
...decorated book bags to protect classroom books kept in students' desks.
We also decorated browsing sticks for when we get to check out chapter books from the classroom library in a few weeks.
In math we learned to play "Ten Go Fish". It is a lot like Go Fish, except you try to make combinations of 10.
We worked in pairs and recorded our combinations in our math journals.
And then....and then.....OUR FAVORITE THING HAPPENED: Our first visit to the library! Ms. G: we have missed you so much. Here we are on the story steps listening carefully.
The lesson today was on choosing a "just right" book.
Ms. G had shoes that  went along with books.
Great matches! Just like the books we choose should be a match for our reading levels.
We carefully searched for our books.
Later, we got to enjoy them on the Story Steps. Thanks, Ms. G, for making library SO MUCH FUN!
