
Word work this week: We are working on words with the short o sound. We can find short o sounds at the beginning of words (off) and in the middle of words (jog). An a can sound like a short o when it comes after a w (wasp, swamp). (Don't you love Scientific Spelling?)

We are working hard in our Handwriting books. (Our curriculum is called "Handwriting Without Tears" because it is so easy to do!) We always start our letters and numbers at the top.
Today we began our Reading Response Journals. This is a place where we can respond to the books that we have read in different ways.
Some sentence leads for reading response journal entries are:

- I think the author wrote this because...
- This text is fiction/non-fiction because...
