If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Computer Day! (And a few other things...)

I'm still trying to get a picture of all the students with their parents. Here is J with his mom...
...and O with her Mom. (We still need to get a picture of GR and LC with their parents!)
Today in Social Studies, we talked about communities, citizens and why we need rules. For an example of what happens to a community without rules, we read "Where the Wild Things Are." (And look at that: L was wearing that shirt today!) After we finished the book, we rewrote it as "Where the Happy Things Are" using examples of a community of citizens (like us!) who obey the rules.
(Drum roll, please...) Today was our first day of Computer class with Ms. J! She went over a top ten list of things to do in the Computer Lab. We listened carefully.
This year we have to sign in with our district issued Log In and Password. (We will use these same ones until we graduate from high school!) They are very long, but we were all able to get into our accounts.
We were patient and careful with our input.
Once we were "in", we could explore different second grade websites.
WOW! We are looking forward to another great year in Computer Class.
At lunch, we have to put in our lunch code to pay for our lunch. (This is different from our Log In code on the computers.) We all know our codes now!
Today was the Grand Opening of the classroom library. J was today's helper, so he got to cut the tape. We worked on two components of the Daily Five we are using in language arts:
We read to ourselves choosing a just right book.
We read to someone else sitting elbow to elbow and knee to knee. We listened to a friend, and then the friend did the listening.
We love to read in second grade!
