In computer class, we watched a short video about the constitution in preparation for Constitution Day on Friday.

Ms. J had the inside of a computer for us to examine.

We took turns looking at the "guts" of a computer with magnifying glasses.

We were able to unplug parts of it, too.

Haven't you always wanted to see the inside of a computer?

While we took turns examining the computer's parts...

...our classmates worked on math facts online.

Remember we wrote down
facts about our new turtles yesterday? Next, we wrote down
observations about the turtles.

We took our Science journals outside to write down things we saw.

We carefully recorded our observations at the new picnic tables under the pergola in the butterfly garden.

We will dedicate this new garden next week!

Today was B's birthday! Happy Birthday, B!

In Math today, we talked about where we find math in the real world. We came up with a long list including addresses, phones, rulers, timers, clocks, temperature on an oven, thermometer, prices in stores...and the list goes on and on! We combined Social Studies and Math today to talk about Math found in our flag.

We looked at all the flags throughout America's history and compared the math found out in each one of them.

We colored our present day flag and recorded answers to these questions:
- Describe the flag using numbers.
- Describe the flag using shapes.
- describe the flag using patterns.
- Describe the flag using math one more way.
Tonight we have Math homework. Your child will be recording information for Pocket Day, and there will also be an addition drill. A new book order is coming home with second grade friendly chapter books (due next Wednesday). Don't forget Back to School Night tomorrow from 6-7:00 pm in our room!
