Stepping Up

Today, Mrs. O came and read a book to us. It is an Arthur book from Ireland about our favorite aardvark being "in a pickle". Arthur found that when he told the truth, things went better for him.
Today, we wrote the second edition of "18 Ways to Make 12" to trade with the second grade class next door. (They are writing a book with the same title. What a coincidence!)
We wrote the story problem and then included the math sentence. Mrs. O typed out our work, then we illustrated it.
When we finished with our illustrations,  we read our pages to the class.
Today we talked about how it was time to take a "step up" in our math work. When we show how to represent numbers, we are going to stop drawing pictures and come up with longer and longer math sentences.
Today is the 22nd day of school, so we came up with combinations that totaled 22. We tried to make math sentences using 2 numbers, 3 numbers, 4 numbers...and as many combinations as we could! Example:1+2+3+4+5+6+1=22. (That is a great combination!)
Mrs. AL came for Spanish today and we continued our work on "The Three Little Pigs" in Spanish. (Los Tres Cerditos: you can find a translation of it here.)
Look at the view from our room after school: the Brownies were meeting! Looks like you had a great time, girls.

Tomorrow is the dedication of the Second Grade Butterfly Garden. We hope that you can come!
