Yea! Another family picture! Here we see G with her Dad and brother.

Today during our Daily 5 training, we worked on "Word Work". We know all the centers available from last year.

We practiced writing the word wall words, words starting with short i, and words with a short i in the middle.

During math today we played a game called "Bean Toss" with partners.

First, we talked about our criteria for working with partners in math:
- Use inside voices.
- Take turns
- Work quietly.
- Put game pieces back the way they belong.
- use appropriate math talk.
- Ask partner for help.
- Complete written work if there is any.

We counted out 10 red/yellow markers (beans!). Then we had our partner check that we had 10. (If our count is wrong, all our answers will be wrong!)

We spilled them out to see what combinations of 10 they made. We recorded this data on a chart. We used the number of red markers first.

This is a good way to learn our addition facts that equal 10!

Some groups got as many as 27 combinations. They stayed on time and on task!

We finished math, put our materials away, and guess what time it was?
SPANISH with Ms. A.L. for the first time this year.

When she comes in she always sings,
"Hola, como estas: Hello, how are you?
Muy bien, gracias: Very well, thank you!"
Today we reviewed colors, months and days in Spanish.
Guess what our goal is this year?
To learn to READ some in Spanish! Can't wait!
