Today, we talked about the culture of our neighbors to the south: Mexico. We discussed Hispanic Heritage and you would be amazed at the amount of Spanish words we know in our classroom. We did a coloring sheet that was in Spanish: rojo=red, azul=blue, purple=morado and verde=green.
Then, guess what happened? We had our first fire drill. Everyone lined up quickly and quietly, and walked out to our assigned location. We faced the school until we were given the "all clear" to go back in. We know that even fire drills are serious business.
Today we took the Number of the Day (14) and tried to find out how many ways we could represent it as a class.
Then, we went back to our seats and came up with 15 ways to show the number 14.
Multi-tasking at its best: we decorated our Special Folders (which hold finished and unfinished work) with Sharpies (Mrs. O trusts us a LOT...) and had our snack at the same time.
Parent Homework:
Please fill out the sheet in the agenda letting me know your goals for second grade for your child, and your child's goals for second grade. (I apologize that the form still says "first grade". That was so last year.) Have a great weekend!
