Every day in second grade, it seems like a new surprise walks in the room. Today C came bearing our Class Pet of the Day: a frog. He fixed the frog a cozy home, and we all spent the day admiring this amphibian.

Happy Birthday to A! She served as our class helper today.

We wrote out our birthdays and then made a human graph out of them according to the calendar year. Later we took this data and created a bar graph.

Surprise! A's mom came and ate a birthday lunch with her daughter and brought gifts.

After two days of very heavy rain, we finally got to have track/recess time again.

Storms were pretty heavy in the neighborhood, and we lost some trees on the school grounds.

See that green door in the picture above? That is our Secret Entry to the library that is only used by second graders. Are we lucky ducks or what? We slipped into library for our favorite 30 minutes of the week.

Ms. G had a great lesson on how to choose a "just right book", and we went on a book hunt: not too easy, not too hard, but JUST right!

We were also lucky (?) to have a birthday in our class on library day. As everyone in the school (and surrounding neighborhood) knows: Ms. G serenades anyone who has a birthday during library time.

You can tell this is a librarian who really gets into her singing....

...and an audience who really enjoys it. Right, Bumblebees?

Our day ended as C released the class frog into the butterfly garden. I kind of think we may find that little frog at our door tomorrow morning waiting to be let back in. Who wouldn't love spending a day with second graders?
(Hey, Bumblebees: this was our 400th blog post! Maybe our librarian Ms. G will have a song of celebration for that!)
