Welcome Back!

O walked in this cool autumn Monday with something missing...
E's dad made shelves for our closet and installed them this morning with E's help. (Thank you so much, Mr. J!)
Our Swallowtail Butterfly  caterpillar made a chrysalis this weekend! (It is on the left hand side of the container above another caterpillar.)
B is our Superstar Student of the week. She did a wonderful job presenting her board to the class.
We made observations in our Science journal about our four plants today. It has been a week since we last made an entry.
The plant getting water, light and air is getting larger and greener.
The plant not getting water is beginning to turn black, lose leaves and is not growing larger.
The plant without light seems to know how to grow toward the outside light even though it is covered.
The plant without air has a lot of condensation in the bag. The plant is not spreading out and is beginning to drop leaves.
We will continue to observe these plants once a week.
Today we played a math gamed called "Pyramid Ten".
We worked in groups of 2. We laid out 21 cards. Using only cards that are not covered, we tried to make combinations of 10
If we could not make a combination of 10, we pulled a card from the deck to see if it could be used to make a combination of 10. During the second game, we  recorded our combinations in our math journal.

In writing, we began our third Personal Narrative. Later this week we will choose our best one for the final editing and publishing.

Don't you love this cool weather? On hot days, the students ask, "When is recess going to be over?" Today when I blew the whistle they all said, "Recess is over already? We enjoyed being out in the cool air.
