Dedication Day

EK came in first thing this morning with a flashing blue and red mouth. There is excitement in the air: it's Butterfly Garden Dedication Day!
Everyday, one of our Helper's duties is to act as "scribe" for the day. The scribe writes down today's day, date, short date, season (IT'S FALL TODAY!) and the daily money count in two forms. ($.23 and 23 cent mark--but there is no cent mark on this keyboard.) L did a great job of writing it all down today.
Because of the Dedication, our library time got changed to 11:30. Mrs. O gave every student a Post-It note to write this information down and put it on their desks. (You'll be glad to know we arrived on time at our alternate time.)
Mrs. O had a meeting in the office today and guess who was sitting in her chair? Gully, the school cat.
Ms. G had a great lesson about the importance of commas in library today. (Eats, Shoots, and  Leaves or Eats Shoots and Leaves.) Ask your child about this.
Every class chose one member to be a ribbon cutter at the Dedication ceremony today. J's name was drawn to represent the Bumblebees. Great job, J!
We are waiting anxiously for the celebration to begin.
Our principal Ms. R and Mrs. D (who was in charge of the Butterfly Garden) welcome guests.
We had several parents attend as well. Here is J's proud mom after he cut the ribbon.
The garden was named in memory of a sweet lady who lived in the neighborhood of our wonderful school.
A local artist created a bird bath using china collected from the "Butterfly Queen's" home.

Tomorrow, the students will be taking/posting pictures of the Butterfly Garden in all its beauty. Be sure to check it out.

(Spelling homework tonight. Please be sure that the students work to make it look like a 3 or 4. They should know what that means.)
